Vehicle view: appraise a used car against local comps
Open one vehicle, set radius, trim match, model year, condition and odometer filters, and see exactly which comparable listings the appraisal is built from.
What is this car really worth against the cars around me? The Vehicle view is where you appraise a used car against local comps, and it works the same way for a new car. Click any row in the inventory table and one car opens against the market, with every comparable listing behind the number in front of you. The comps are live retail listings, so the appraisal is what buyers see today, not a book figure.
The top of the screen is Your Vehicle: photo, trim, VIN, price and days on market, with Low, Avg and High showing where your price sits among competitors. The pencil next to the price opens Adjust Price, which changes the number for analytics only and never touches your listings. Under it sits the Filters bar, which decides who counts as a competitor for this car: Radius at 50 mi, 100 mi, 200 mi, 500 mi or Nationwide; Trim Match as Any Trim, By Name, By VIN or By VIN & Name; the Same Year and Match Condition switches; and Odometer on Auto or a Range you set. Every number on the screen updates the moment you change a filter. A List view and Map view toggle shows the same comps as cards or as pins around your store.
A typical routine is the trade-in walk-around. For example, a 2021 model comes in with 38,000 miles: open a car like it, leave By VIN & Name and Same Year on, keep Odometer on Auto and read the range. Too few cars at 50 miles? Step out to 100 or 200 before you trust the number. When a set of filters fits the whole store, press Apply for all and every rank and target price in the table is recomputed with the same rules.

04 How close a match
- Any Trim — every trim of the same make and model.

06 Cars with similar miles
- Odometer on Auto compares cars with mileage in the same ballpark as yours.
- The band grows with the miles — about ±5,000 on a low-mileage car, wider on a high one.
- Range opens a slider to set your own low and high miles, then Apply.
- Reset to Auto inside the slider brings the automatic band back.
Odometer is per car — Apply for all does not copy it.

Frequently asked questions
How do I appraise a used car against local comps with this tool?
Open the car from the inventory table, or add it by VIN if it is not in stock yet. The Vehicle view lists every comparable retail listing around your store, shows the Low, Avg and High of their asking prices, and ranks your price among them. Change Radius, Trim Match, Same Year, Match Condition or Odometer and every number recomputes at once. The same screen works for new cars.
What does "exact trim comparables" mean, and which Trim Match setting gives them?
By VIN & Name, the default, keeps only cars built the same at the factory (matched on the VIN prefix) that also carry the same trim name, so an XLT is never priced against a Limited. By VIN matches the factory build alone, By Name matches the trim name alone, and Any Trim takes every trim of the same make and model. A tighter match gives a more accurate price but fewer cars to compare.
Are the comps odometer-adjusted?
Comps are filtered by mileage rather than adjusted by a formula. With Odometer on Auto, only cars with mileage in the same ballpark as yours count, and the band grows with the miles: for example, about 5,000 either way on a low-mileage car and wider on a high-mileage one. Range opens a slider to set your own low and high miles. Odometer stays per car and is not copied by Apply for all.
Can I compare only same year, same condition cars?
Yes. Same Year keeps only cars of your model year and is on by default. Match Condition compares new against new and used against used and is off by default, so a used car is normally measured against both new and used listings of the same year. Click either button to switch it; blue means on.
What radius should I use: 50, 100, 200 or 500 miles?
Radius is measured from your store, and 50 mi is the local market most buyers actually shop. If too few comparable cars turn up nearby, the view widens the search automatically and tells you. For a rare trim or a rural store, 200 or 500 miles gives a steadier read; Nationwide is best for checking a price against the whole country rather than for setting one.
