What You Get

A VIN report on every listing tab. No copy-paste, no context-switching.

The Chrome extension turns the entire web into a VIN-aware tool. You browse, the extension highlights — and the report appears where you already are.

Works on any listing site

Cars.com, AutoTrader, Craigslist, Carmax, Carvana, Facebook Marketplace, eBay Motors — the extension activates on all of them. Hover any VIN and the popup appears. No copy-pasting, no opening a new tab, no login required for your first lookup.

Zero context-switching

The full report — auction photos, title brands, accident records, listing history, and nearby competitor prices — appears right where you already are. You stay on the listing page. You keep your place. You get the answer in seconds.

Prefer to watch instead of click? Here it is running on a real Cars.com listing — auto-detect, hover card, full report, all in 90 seconds.

What Makes It Different

Most extensions cover one site. We cover the whole market.

Five things you'll notice in the first week — and won't find anywhere else in a single browser extension.

One hover, zero workflow interruption

Other VIN tools make you open a new tab, paste the VIN, wait for the result, then flip back to the listing. This extension puts the result on top of the listing — one hover, zero workflow interruption.

Auction photos, not just a title brand summary

The popup shows auction photos, not just a title brand summary. You see the actual condition photos from when the vehicle crossed the block — not a text description of what happened to it.

Today's market, not a cached average

Competitor prices inside the popup are pulled from the same database as the full VinAssessment dashboard — 2M+ fresh listings scanned daily, across every major platform. You're not getting a cached average. You're getting today's market.

Seven listing sites, one extension

Works on seven of the most common listing sites dealers already browse: Cars.com, AutoTrader, Craigslist, Carmax, Carvana, Facebook Marketplace, and eBay Motors. No separate tool per site.

Team management built in

Team management is built in. One admin account, as many seats as your plan includes. No requiring each rep to create their own login before they can start using it. Big Joe's son Danny installs it once; Chen's team uses it without a setup call.

Built for Real Dealer Scenarios

Three dealer scenarios where the extension earns its seat.

Real workflows where checking a VIN on every listing — without breaking flow — changes the day.

Sourcing

Sourcing inventory while browsing competitor listings

Mike is on AutoTrader scouting vehicles to acquire for the lot. He sees a 2022 Silverado listed by a competitor at $32,500. He hovers the VIN — the popup shows two prior auction runs, a clean title, and that three other dealers in Columbus are asking $31,000.

Thirty seconds, no tab-switching. He skips it, keeps scrolling, and finds a better deal two listings down.
Group rollout

Dealer-group rollout across multiple rooftops

Sarah's VP of Operations sends the Chrome Web Store link to all 12 GMs with instructions to install it on their sales teams' machines. Two hours later, every rep across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts has VIN lookup in their browser.

12 rooftops, one afternoon. No vendor onboarding call. No per-store configuration.
Trade-in

Trade-in evaluation on Facebook Marketplace

A customer brings in a trade and mentions a similar truck on Facebook Marketplace for $27,000. Big Joe pulls up the listing, hovers the VIN, and sees a rebuilt title and two prior accident records in the popup. He walks the customer through it on screen.

"I see why the price is where it is." No external site, no waiting for a search to load, no argument.

FAQ

Questions dealers ask first.

If something below isn't answered, drop us a note — a real person on our dealer team will get back to you in two hours or less.

Do you cover new vehicles, or just used?

Both. Every vehicle on every supported listing site.

The extension works on any VIN that has a record in our database — new vehicles with auction exposure, certified pre-owned, off-lease returns, fleet units, and straight used inventory. If you're sourcing or appraising any vehicle on any listing site, the popup will show you what we have. For new vehicles with no prior listing history, we'll show a clean record rather than a false positive.

Which listing sites does the extension work on?

Cars.com, AutoTrader, Craigslist, Carmax, Carvana, Facebook Marketplace, and eBay Motors. Those are the seven sites where the extension is currently active. If you hover a VIN on any other site and the popup doesn't appear, the site isn't supported yet. We add sites based on where dealers actually browse — contact us if there's a specific site you'd like added.

Does it work on mobile, or only desktop Chrome?

Desktop Chrome only. Chrome extensions don't run on mobile browsers — that's a Chrome platform limitation, not ours. If you're checking VINs on a phone or tablet, log into the VinAssessment dashboard directly or use the mobile-friendly web app. The dashboard gives you the same data; you just have to open it separately rather than getting the hover popup.

How do I manage seats for my team?

From your VinAssessment admin account. Each plan includes a set number of extension seats — see Pricing for tier details. You add seats by entering a rep's email; they receive an install link with their account credentials pre-linked. You can remove seats or reassign them at any time from the same admin view. No IT department required for groups up to 50 seats; for larger rollouts, contact our team and we'll handle it.

How fresh is the data in the popup?

Listing data updates daily — we scan 2M+ listings across every major platform every day, so competitor prices in the popup reflect this week's market, not last month's. Auction records and title events update within 24–48 hours of a new record being filed. If a vehicle crossed an auction block three days ago, that event will be in the popup today.

Is my browsing history or data shared when the extension is installed?

No. The extension activates only when it detects a VIN on a supported listing page. It reads the VIN from the page you're already viewing and sends it to VinAssessment to fetch the report. It does not track your browsing history, store the pages you visit, or transmit any data outside of the VIN lookup request itself. Our full privacy policy is at vinassessment.com/privacy . For enterprise groups with data handling requirements, contact us for a data processing agreement.

Can I use the extension without a VinAssessment subscription?

You can install the extension and run a limited number of lookups on a free trial — no credit card required to start. After the trial, the extension requires an active plan. See Pricing for Chrome Extension plan options. If you already have a VinAssessment dashboard subscription, the extension is included at your plan's seat count — you don't pay separately for it. Log in with the same credentials and the extension activates automatically.

Install in 30 seconds. Check your first VIN in 60.

Add the extension, hover any VIN on any listing site, and see the full report — auction photos, title history, competitor prices — right there on the page. No dashboard login required for your first lookup.
