Every pricing tool we'd seen handed dealers a single number with no story behind it. We built something different — a dashboard that shows the whole market, every competitor near you, and the data we used to get there.
Our Story
How VinAssessment started.
From one dealer's pricing problem to the most complete view of the car market in North America.
The idea started on a used-car lot, watching a manager price a trade-in from a single screen with three comps. Three. Out of thousands of similar vehicles for sale within a hundred miles. The decision was educated guessing — and the GM still asked, "But why that price?"
We thought there was a better answer. So we started scraping. First eBay, then Cars.com, AutoTrader, CarGurus, Carvana, TrueCar, Autolist, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp — and 50,000+ individual dealer websites. New and used. Every brand, every trim, every region. Every day.
Today VinAssessment tracks 127M+ vehicles, holds 226M+ sales records and 43M+ auction records, and ingests 2M new listings every day. The point was never to be the biggest dataset for its own sake. The point was that when a dealer asks "why this price?" — we can show our work.
We're a small team based in the US. We talk to dealers every week. We don't believe in glossy marketing copy when a screenshot will do. If you have ten minutes, we'd rather show you the dashboard than tell you about it.

Every number we show traces back to a real listing, a real auction, a real sale. We name the source. We don't smooth, we don't estimate when we can measure, and we don't hide a missing data point behind a guess.

Pricing against one platform is pricing with one eye closed. We pull from every major listing source and 50,000+ dealer websites so the picture you see is the picture your buyer sees.

Build for accuracy, not for prettiness.
A boring dashboard that's right beats a beautiful one that's wrong. We spend our engineering time on data quality first, UI polish second. The dealers who use it every morning tell us we got that order right.
